No arrests were made by the polide, this; afternoon, of any of the ringleaders of the MOV crowd on the Praya, but it is to be hoped
that any attempt at terrorism instituted
by any class of the Chinese residents of Hongkong will be put down with a strong hand.
We hear from Chinese sources that a inesting of a number of the boating com- munity is to be held to-night at Yau-ma-ti, to decide as to their future action.
THE eleven cargo boat people who were charged on Saturday with refusing to accept employment when offered them by the Mes- sageries Maritimes Co. on the 26th instant, were again brought up before Mr Mackean, at the Police Court this morning. Eight of the defendants utterly failed to substan- tiato their statements of being already en- gaged when applied to by the clerk of the Messageries Company, and were each of them fined $5. The case against the re. maining three was remanded for a week, to allow of further enquiries being made.
